would my truck run worst if switching from dual 2.5 to a single in dual out 3 inch?

If it's a stock or near stock engine, it may actually run better, if scavenging improves.  Just make sure the y-pipe transition is nice and smooth.  Keep in mind that even mildly modified F-bodies run great on single 3" systems.

But then again if you already have a dual 2.5" installed, I would be inclined to keep it and put in an H-pipe or X-pipe crossover to improve scavenging.

as in single 2.5" Y to a DUAL 3"?  I would keep the 2.5" duals.  or run a 3" single instead.

its a vortec headed crate 350 with 470 lift cam and headers. with 2 1/4 dual glasspacks
