Title: 1984 c10 vent window question.

i took out my vent windows to rebuild. that went smooth. now the question and i've seen it both ways. does the vent window frame to front of door weatherstrip go to the inside of door or does it spread out to the outside of door. i tried to word it the best i can.

It goes inside! Bolts to door on top, inside the door panel. Hope this is what your looking for!

Another tip.
Push the vent window frame aggressively into the door frame.
Install all of the vent window fasteners finger tight.
Roll the window up fully and tighten the top screw.
Roll the window down 1/2 way and finish tightening the fasteners from top to bottom.

Question about the rubber strip that is riveted in three places. On your replacement vent window weather strip did you get the original two replacement piece or one piece? If one piece weather strip, how did go forward with installing,  and with or without rivets. I have the one piece vent window weather strip installed except for that one strip which is loosely fitted. I'm thinking about using black weather strip adhesive.

If your vent windows originally came with the two-piece weather strip, you must go back with the two-piece.  They are NOT interchangeable.  I know some people on the web have said you can make it work, but that means cutting out pieces of new weatherstrip and using silicone where they don't fit.  I don't call that a solution.

I initially put it in to where the small flap like edges were on the outside. After a few months of more wind noise and water in the doors I switched it to the inside. The problem is that it will cract on the edges where it meats the doors frame. Now it may be the quality of the rubber or that it was originally designed to be on the out side by the aftermarket rubber manufacturing. I spent a good bit of $$ on it from e reputable supplier but I won't do it again especially the single piece vent window rubber... It looks horrible after 4years. Tho old stuff was better looking after 25 or so.
