I have a 78 2wd c10 probably 16 gallon
I don't want to go thru changing the tank, and end up with junk, or non proper fit.
Anyone have any insight on quality gas tanks?

Spectra is what I use, but any reputable company makes good tanks. We sell tanks but shipping is ridiculous.

What do you think is wrong with your old tank? Its just a container, and what usually wears out is the sending unit, hoses, etc. If the tank has no damage/holes, I would just pull it off and refurbish it yourself. Even if you buy a new tank it will not come with new sending unit and hoses.
You might also be able to find a local source, to avoid shipping cost, but it depends where you are located. When I lived in San Antonio there was a place called Crash Parts (now out of business) that had lots of GM body repair parts on hand and there was no additional charge for shipping. For example, I think I only paid about $50 each for new Chinese-made fenders, and they are still on the truck after about 15 years.
