I am in the process of installing 1 ton axles in my K10 Chevy. A few days ago I put the u-bolts and spring plates on my Dana 60 and torqued them down to 150 ft lb per Chilton's manual. It occurred to me yesterday that on the passenger side two of the bolts thread into the housing and may have a different torque spec than the U bolts. At the moment the bolts are torqued to 150 ft lb just like the u-bolts. I have looked through my Haynes manual, Chilton's manual, Dana 60 and Military CUCV Manual. All my manuals list U bolt torque but say NOTHING about the spring plate to diff housing bolt torque.
I'm inclined to leave the bolts the same torque as the u-bolts. But I do have some concern about how tight they are. Any reference material or experience would be helpful.
