Vent Window Identification
« on: October 27, 2013, 03:16:05 PM »
There are 3 basic vent window offerings for the 73-91 trucks.  Links provide to get you to these in our online catalog.
1973 - 1980 - non-locking latch with a large glass that ends with a point.  These use a 2 piece gasket (visit our store here for 73-80 gasket) and mount to the door with 2 bolts at the a-pillar

1981-1985 - locking latch with a smaller glass that ends in a curve at the top.  These use a 2 piece gasket (visit our store here for 81-85 gasket) and mount to the door with 2 bolts at the a-pillar also.

1986-1991- Locking latch with smaller glass that ends in a curve at the top.  These use a 1 piece gasket (visit our store here for 85-91 gasket), and mount to the door with only 1 bolt at the a-pillar.

Here are the pictures for identifying them.

Note the differences in the 81-85 (bottom) and the 73-80 (top) glass:

Note differences in the 81-91 locking latch (top) and the non locking 73-80 (bottom)

Note the differences in the top mounting boss from top 85-91 (top) to the 81-85 (middle) with hole, and the 73-80 with hole (has a bolt in it so I won't loose it)
Note the top vertical hole pad does not guarantee the vent version as they can be drilled to fit the earlier version with the hole.

Note the differences in the glass channel opening: the 81-85 (middle) has slots in it for the division bar seal compared to the 85-91 (top)
This is the most accurate way to identify the 85-91 1 piece vs 81-85 2 piece version.
