That's the funkiest looking intercooler I've ever seen. I like it! Reminds me of the big V the V8-powered 57 Chevy's came with on the hood.

That's what I thought of also...  Good thing it will be hidden behind the grille.

Capt, love the build. I see I'm not the only one with the desire to put turbos on these air plows as a DD but looks like for now you're the only one with the $$$ to put into a build like this. I think my biggest problem in starting this build will be wanting to do everything myself which will involve me getting welders, benders ohohoh...cnc machine just incase, you never know what you wish you could make for a project until you make it.

I showed my wife the Dakota gages a lont time ago off your website and she just laughed at me. Last night I showed them to her again but I showed her what they looked like when you hooked them up and she was all about them until I showed her  the price...in time. I will start with the motor first an build on it from there.

I like that you are keeping this as a Daily and not making it a garage kept perfect sunday weather driver only. If it was up to me I would have sunk the $3k into the drive train first and then paint and body. But don't get me wrong there was and is nothing wrong with the engine and tranny and diffs except for the fact that I own the truck now.
I will definitely be following the rest of this build and us eit when I do mine because it will happen one way or another.

haha and people wonder why I would never get married again. I have toys and waste my money on them and no one can say otherwise :) My buddy is only allowed one slice of cheese on his sandwiches so it could be worse.

Looks like the assembly is coming together nicely. I can't wait to turbo my stepside but I've got a ways to go with my other projects first. Looks like you'll be having some fun in no time.

Friday, July 5th, 2013: It is actually going way slower than I anticipated.  I am at the start of week 8 and it was supposed to be done weeks ago.  Now the fab shops fabricators just had a baby...
The exhaust tails got actually tacked into place instead of slipping them on this time.  All that is left is the intake piping under the hood before it comes back to me to route the wiring and oil feeds.

Hey Capt...sorry things are going slow but that's the price we pay for not being able to do everything ourselves. I did have a question about the fuel system you rigged up. First off, what fittings did you use and where did you get them? Also it looks like you just cut the tips off the sending unit and...flared(?) compression fittings(?) both?  Also I'd like to keep both tanks when I do mine do you now any specs on the selector solenoid like if it can handle the pressure I would need to run modern fuel injection vice the TBI?

Wednesday, July 10th, 2013: Since the intercooler is taking up so much space behind the grill I had them fabricate a core support brace back in to replace the one that was removed and integrate it into the Intercooler.  Although it is pictured with the factory grill in place there will be a billet grille in there as I need as much flow across it as I can get.

All of the drivers side intake tube has been routed and braced, and they have started on the passenger side.

Thursday July 11th, 2013: There were questions involving how I wanted the blowoffs routed, after a short discussion and a quick drawing they got it how I wanted it

They also finished up all of the intake piping for both passenger and driver side

Friday July 12th, 2013: There was some confusion on how I wanted the rear exhaust completed.  I wanted it all welded with a V-band in it for easy removal.  So I had ordered those the previous Monday and dropped them off this week and the started final weld on the drivers side exhaust.  They didn't get to the passenger side before running out of time.

Monday July 15th, 2013: While welding up the passenger side one of the Vibrant clamps broke they had to steal one from the driver side to get it welded up.  When they got to the tail section we wanted it to appear factory so I asked them to fab up a bracket that would match the drivers side.

Tuesday July 16th, 2013: They got the hanger bracket fab'd and bolted it on to complete the passenger side.  They were supposed to deliver it to my house but with the time that passed the battery had died, it was pouring down rain and I had somewhere to be, so we decided to deliver on Wednesday the 17th.

See here, I got them from Pure Choice.  They are GM 16mm to 3/8" AN and 14mm to 3/8" AN fittings.  I didn't cut anything off of the tanks.

If you use a Pollak switch valve (pretty much all you can get now) it is good to up to 65psi.  It is PN 42-300P.
If you run a Corvette filter (AC GF652) and you have a returnless system, you only have to run lines to the filter and then just one line to the engine...

I didn't realize that the tank that you used already had threaded fittings vice the rubber hose and clamps on the OE TBI sending units. I'm sure that I can find a way to adapt it  somehow, maybe with a cut, nut and flair. Thanks for the info and I bet if feels good to have the truck back home.
