Tan seat belt
« on: August 19, 2014, 02:18:43 PM »
Im trying to keep my old 87 looking original and I need this part of the seat belt....

The aftermarket ones dont even come close as far as matching up. :(

Its not a big deal when Im driving alone, but with my 2 daughters, the one sitting in the middle gets mine and I left driving with no seat belt.

Anyone know where to look for a match?
I have this posted elsewhere, but I figured I could ask in here also.

When posting you need to remember that there is a lot of members on here, we do not always remember everyone's vehicle.
So always post the important information with the post, like year, make, model, other info if needed.
Seat belt store is one site I came up with from a google search.

Gotcha, sorry about that. :-[  I figured 87 was enough info as Its an 87, Chevy pu with Tan interior.

THANK YOU for the link, but I already have an aftermarket "tan" one that looks completely different than what I have now.  I would rather have an old, weathered, stock, working, tan belt that matches my old ones.   :)

I must be lucky, when I need a part I can usually run down to 1 of the 5 different pick-n pull style places and find what I want.  And if that does not work, I have a whole bunch of vehicle recycling yards that sell parts.

I am not sure what you are asking about.

I am looking for info on where to buy this part of the seatbelt set...

You can see where both "female" parts of the seatbelt run through the drivers side hole. (one for the middle passenger the other for the driver)  One of the current ones I have, is messed up and will not latch.  When Im driving by myself, I use the working one.  When my 6&7 year old daughters are in the truck, they get the working ones and I dont have a seat belt that works.

Ive tried local parts yards and they have nothing in tan.

Any other place to get retractable? I am looking for a pair for my 78 Sierra. I noticed after I got it that they don't stop when pulled suddenly like my belts on other vehicles do. Or is that something it doesn't do?

Yes sir.  The retractable (both sides, DR & Pass) work and so does the lap belt.  One of the "female" ends is broken and will not latch.
Thus my post on needing information into getting a replacment other than an aftermarket one as most of the aftermarket ones do NOT match at all.  At least the ones I have seen. :)
