Title: Peach State checking in
Post by: yellingboysgoat on December 05, 2018, 12:52:42 PM
Hello from Georgia.   My name is Mark and I'm 56.  Been a GM guy all of my life.  I just bought an 80 C10 SB for my kid to drive to school in February when he gets his license,  but it's my truck lol.  We're going to fix it up together to teach him some things like welding, painting, mechanical and general grease monkey stuff.   The truck is solid mechanically with a little rust in the rockers, rear wheel area, inner bed rails and front corners of hood.   Interior is fair but I'm going to replace most of it.  Paint is faded on the top surfaces.   We are looking forward to bringing her back to her former glory.  This should be fun.  We might even do a color change.   The weak 1980 350 is going to need a few upgrades. I'm thinking headers, intake, cam, and carb to start.   I've got some ported and polished heads sitting around too.  I go to Summit Racing in McDonough for their Monday car shows so you may see us there in my 65 GTO or 70 Monte Carlo.  We have a 1986 Grand Prix T-top car we are working on too.  The beauty of the square body trucks is that parts to restore them are so readily available.  I am looking forward to working on it with my son and interacting with the folks here.  See you on the road. 8)

Welcome from SoCal!

I just bought the same year this summer, had been sitting in a back yard for 10 years.

Started right up after filling the float bowl, trans works good, motor runs strong. Just needs cosmetics and new wood for the stepside bed.

I do NOT have the square head lights, though. Bummer...

I'm pretty sure the color is the same, but not two tone.

When I pulled off the fender, there was a surface that had original paint, buffed it out, and it is a really beautiful rich brown metallic.

Is yours the original paint? Do you know the color name and code?

I thought about a color change, but if I can match this, I think I'll stay original.

Thanks for any help, and again, welcome. You will find this site very resourceful.

Hard to tell color with pics taken in the dark, but looks similar to mine. It is 486-Granada Beige/White. It does appear to be darker though.
