Adding leafs, can it be done?
« on: January 26, 2006, 09:51:00 PM »
I recently replaced the rear springs on a 78 K-10(not mine) with a set of new ones that I had.  I got some cash and the old springs, which had 2 cracked leafs on each.  The good ones were: the bottom flat ones(the thick ones), the second one from the top on each, and the third from the bottom on each.  They were 6 leaf 52" springs, MY 1978 K-10 heas the same.  My question is, what would it take to add the good leafs from the bad set to my springs?  What effect would this have on load range, and would it lift the rear at all?  Baring in mind that ride quality is not of real concern and height change is not either.
