Neither of those are a transfercase. What do you mean?

I'm not following what you are trying to do. If you already have the right shifter for your transfercase why do you want to change it? You need to elaborate on what you are trying to do if anyone can help you. To ID your transfercase look at the tag on the backside of it. Example NP208

To clarify! A Turbo 350, & Turbo 400 are transmissions, not transfercases. Our trucks were offered with a NP 203, 205, & 208 transfer cases. NP meaning New Process
(1) we should know the year of your truck, or drivetrain / frame if its had a body swap?
(2) we should know which transfer case you have. There is a tag on the back of the t case with one of the formentioned numbers on it.
(3) What exactly are you tying to accomplish?
(4) How did you end up with missmatched parts?
If the part doesn't fit you most likely are not going to make it work or if you did it would be allot more hassle than just going and getting the right parts!

A 208 is fine as long as you don't wail the crap out of your truck. I have broken them clean in two pieces before in a plow truck. The 208 has a t case shifter that lays almost flat down against the floor when in 2 wheel drive and stands almost strait up when in 4 lo. It has an adjustable linkage rod that connects to a flattish plate via a cotter pin type set up. The plate slips over the shift rod on the transfer case via a shaped to corespond to the shift rod and is held in place by a nut. I am not sure what you have but it is not going to work with a 208 if it has two rods. Go to the scrap yard and get the right shifter, shifter mount, and interior shifter cover.

Not quite sure what your asking there?
I have never seen and 80 with a NP 208. I might be wrong but I am pretty sure 81 was the first year. All 208s all use the same shifter.

It sounds like you have a 203 transfercase shifter your wanting to use on your 208 case. I don't think it's going to work.
1 rod switches the 203 from Hi to Lo and the other rod shifts it from Loc to Reg 4 wheel drive.
Keep looking for a 208 shifter.
