Have Problem...Need solution.
« on: January 15, 2009, 11:04:50 PM »
okay, here's the deal. I've got newer heads for my 350, they are off an L98 casting number 14101083, they have 72° center intake manifold bolts as apposed to the normal 90°. I can only seem to find one carbuerated intake manifold for this the Weiand 8120, but I'd like more options, does anyone know of any others that will fit these heads, or how to modify another intake to fit the 72° angle bolts.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Dan

Check these out.

yeah, I've seen those, I'm not looking for just any old intake manifold, it's got to fit the L98 72° center bolts.

They're the same.  There's only 3 types.  The ones up to 86 (with 90 Degree bolts),  87-95(with 72 Degree bolts)  and then there's vortec (no center bolts at all)  all those in the list above are 72 degree center bolts.

You may have hit the nail on the head. That's what I wanted was an intake that would work with either set of heads...

Anyone else got any suggestions as well...

78 Chevyrado, thank you. I did not know that all the 87-95 heads had the 72° bolts I thought it was just the L98's that did....I learn something new everyday.

As 78 Chevyrado said, all iron heads from 87-95 had the 72° center bolts, but keep in mind the 87-91 aluminum (corvette) heads had the standard 90° center bolts.  I realize you have the iron heads from a TPI F-body, but you should know this so you don't get confused while searching for your manifold.  Also it appears that the Weiand manifold you listed in your first post does not fit 87-95 iron heads according to their website.

really? what do they fit then, because on Summit's website it's the only ones that come up when you search for 1987 350 with L98 head configuration....

Summit probably meant L98 corvette head; their vehicle application guide can be screwy sometimes (I never use it).  According to the manifold installation .pdf file (right there on the Summit page for the Weiand 8120), under applications, it says that it is for all 55-86 heads and 87-91 aluminum Corvette heads.
