Does anyone know for sure if an engine out of a 97 C1500 will interchange with a 99 GMC Safari mini van?

Use the interchange search on car-part.com when initially looking into these things. If not, then there are sometimes small variances. For Example, my cousin totaled his Durango with a 4.7L. I took it for my Jeep but the only difference was the oil pan and pickup.

I can't thank you so much for such an excellent resource.

i'm not 100% "for sure," but, of course, both blocks should bolt in. And, both engines should be L35's, so the inductions systems/topside stuff should be identical and should interchange, but even if they aren't the same mpfi, they should still interchange between both blocks and heads.
i think the dipsticks will be different.
i know this is not that helpful. Can i ask what you are trying to do?

Part 2:
i'm thinking of going Astro. i don't need to tow that heavy and i think a van is more useful to me than a suburban. So, i was wondering if we could discuss the different iterations of the 4.3?
--The 85-6 had carb. That's pretty solid and straightforward.
--Then 87 to 95 had tbi. Again, pretty straightforward and problem free.
Although some astros had CPI (also see below) optional starting in 92
--Then the 96 to 2002 had the SCPI "spider" fuel injection.
i have heard that this is problematic. Both the CPI and SCPI.
---2002 on up had "regular" multi-point fuel injection. And this should be ok?

after looking at the hidden rust I have concluded this will be parted out then filled with scrap and dropped off to get what I can for it.
