1in shackles, will I need to notch the bed frame
« on: January 11, 2019, 10:40:52 AM »
I have an 85 Short bed truck. After reading some of the forums I have noticed that I will have to notch the bed frame to fit a shackle 2in or more. My question is how about 1in shackle only? Has anyone with a short bed truck put a 1in shackle on the rear and did not have to notch the bed frame?
Currently I have 3in lowering coil springs and would like to go down one more inch. Any thoughts or ideals, thanks...

Stepside or fleetside? If you have 56" springs and a fleetside bed it should clear otherwise you may need to do some trimming. If you don't want to go that route, try different hangers instead.

It's a fleet side with 52" springs. i am just not sure if I need a 3in or 4in drop, so I was hoping to buy 3in leaf springs and lower it 1 more inch if I decided all looks good at 4in with my tires.
Did some research and maybe I can get the 4in leaf springs that raises it 1in if needed. Seems going up 1in is easier without cutting anything. Found some shackles on eBay that will raise it 1in. I might end up going this route.
