Fender liner and core support repair
« on: August 04, 2018, 09:52:55 AM »
So, I bought an 87 R10 short bed with very little to no rust to speak of. I knew the battery had leaked at some point and there was some corrosion on the right fender liner and the core support on that side.  The AC needed fixing and after that was done discovered the radiator needs replacing.  I figured some baking soda/water on the corrosion and then some cleanup with a wire wheel then painting with POR 15 would be good.
Well....turns out while taking out the battery tray that the corrosion ate the metal to the point that the bottom of the battery tray twisted off and there is a nice hole in the fender liner. I’ll be replacing that liner and just going to go ahead and remove the core support for repair or possibly replace it all together.
And so it begins.....
