pcv
« on: April 04, 2020, 08:31:21 PM »
i have an 86 k20 350.... i'm fairly new to these older engines.... the tube on the passenger valve cover that connects to the pcv breather inside the air box.... this tube very easily moves back and forth on the breather nipple. is this ok/normal or does it need to be tighter??  it won't come off on its own, it's just nowhere near airtight.... thanks

The grommet is probably hard and brittle. Replace the grommet.

the grommet on the valve cover is nice and tight, but the nipple on the air cleaner box is where it's extremely loose. should there be a grommet there too?

i think there should be a "C" clip on that nipple?   Can you  post a pic?

That's right.

The plastic nipple for the hose pokes through the side of the air cleaner and has a square shape fitting on the outside.  There is a wide metal spring clip that slides up against that square section and locks the nipple onto the air cleaner.  If you look at figure 13 in this web info from Autozone you can see the type of clip.  https://www.autozone.com/repairguides/GM-Camaro-1967-1981-Repair-Guide/Routine-Maintenance/Positive-Crankcase-Ventilation-Valve-PCV/_/P-0900c1528007d806
