To Replace the Bed or just Piece it...
« on: March 02, 2006, 12:07:00 AM »
I recently aquired an '82 C-1500 that is mostly solid.  I am in a quandry on whether to replace the bed or just the bedside.  All-in-all, the bed is solid, but the rail, and just the rail, on the driver's side is full of cancer to the point of holes.  This is a bizzare sight to an OH native.  I am just wondering cost wise, being in FL, if I would be just as well off getting another bed or just replacing that bedside.  Any thoughts?  At $400 plus frieght, a bedside is not cheap, and I still need to replace the tailgate as this one is dented.  TIA.

Hey man, being in Fl., you've got SOOOOOOO many junkyards to choose from, for instance, if you're anywhere close to Tampa, you can get a whole bed from about $400. The bedsides are rather simple to replace though if you do go that route.Send a message to my inbox if you have any questions, or if you need some salvage info.

That's all I needed to know.  I had not been in the market for a bed in years and that was before I moved to FL.  I just didn't know what a reasonable price to expect would be...

St. Augustine, the oldest city in the nation!!  I remember as a child approaching an alligator there while on vacation.  My parents yelled at me for walking so close to it.  I've always lived on the wild side.

I'm in Venice Fl., I can't remember exactly which road it was on ,but there's a reather large junkyard in the St. Augustine area, I remember having to go up there a few years back to pick up parts for my Chrystler Concuest. There are two or three yards right by eachother.
