Rocker Panel Replacement \Floor pans 1983 c10
« on: July 18, 2021, 02:07:55 AM »
Hey All
so the cab is off the frame and im starting the repairs on the rocker panels, floor pans, and cab corners. ive read a few of the posts here and been watching a few videos to try and prep. got to cutting the floor pans out yesterday/today and the spot welds were giving me trouble as well i cut into the supports so i will go back and back them with angle iron in those places.

my main question is for the rocker panels. Ive used this video [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSG40-OXJDw&t=640s]. now in the video  pretty much he removes the spot welds and the whole piece or whats left comes away. seems simple and there i can see a visible seam of the rocker panel at the top under the hinge.

now on my truck i cant see a seam. its look and feels like it continues straight up like one piece, and ill have to judge where to cut it. is that a possibility? i have spot welds in similar locations to the video but it looks like a single cohesive piece. I will get a picture up tomorrow as i figure this out and i have spot weld cutters on order for tuesday

also my inner rocker panel kinda quits its run about a 1\4 way from the back and doesnt run the whole length. i have spare 18 gauge steel sheet that i could modify that with and have it meet the at the back cab corner?(i think a read a thread that Blazin mentioned something like having that joined?)

Can you post some pictures for us?

Have the rockers been replaced in the past? Or is the sheetmetal all original?

took a little long sorry. anywho in the pictures the outer portion of the rocker panel is cut away cause im waiting for the spot weld cutters to come in and take care of the rest. you can see the inner portion of the rockerpanels where it ends early(?).

I dont know if they have been replaced in the past but id assume they are original. would that mean they are cast one peice?

There is more that 2 panels there.  An outer and an inner rocker piece.
