3 inch body lift steering colum slide?
« on: February 21, 2004, 01:37:00 AM »
I am lifting a 81 Chevy K20 with a 3 inch body lift. Someone
told me that I must heat the steering column so that it could
slide when I lift the cab?

look at the steering shaft closely, and you will see like two plastic pins that are flush to the shaft. just drill them and slide it to where you need it, redrill those holes and use like a cotter pin of some sort. it worked for my 76 chevy. it will take some wiggling to make it slide

Sounds good. I will check that this weekend when I install my 3inch body lift. I was in a scrap yard the other
day and was looking at a 1978 and it looked a bit
different from my 81. I will wirebrush my shaft so I can
see better. Thanks Again.
