cop car computer chip ?
« on: July 26, 2006, 05:42:00 PM »
a friend of mine gave me a computer box out of a 92 or 93 Caprice cop car for 350 TBI engines. it has the high-per chip in it or whatever in it. what i wanna know is, is it suppost to work in my 87 305 TBI. i hooked it up and it made the tranny shift funny, but seemed to have more power but when you floored it it wouldn't go into passin gear. what do ya'll think? i took the chip back out by the way. i think it only works with 700r4 trannys.

Man, oh man!  My first cop car was a '90 chevy caprice--i later had a 92 (I believe) caprice---those 350's would blow the decals off the crown vics.

I loved those old caprices with the 350's.  Going code 3 on the intrestate  w/ lights flashing--Whewww!!  that baby not only went about Mach 3, she would hug the road.

That was the true best police package EVER! Malibu, Crown Vic--no comparison. Some of the older guys like talking about the old Dodge hemi 440's, but that was b4 my time

The 700R4 shift points are not controlled by the computer. It is not an electronic trans. the only thing the ECM controls is the TCC solenoid.

Send your question off to this guy- he's extremely good with questions like you have-not only does he make and market tbi chips- he has owned some pretty outragous vehicles.

No, I haven't seen any of the Charger police models here in Va yet.  Not sure if they made it on the state bid.  The dang crown vics are always on the state bid due to the cheapness.  But I'll take a vic over the darn Intrepid police interceptor they recently gave me.  Lots of pep, but terrible brakes, rattles, etc..
