Header question
« on: April 20, 2018, 07:54:06 PM »
I have a chance to buy a set of ceramic coated headers for my 1981 gmc seirra 2wd with a 350. The part #69830 elite series from hedman. Says they fit 4x4 trucks, but would they fit 2wd or are they just for 4x4. Not sure on the differences. Pipe length and design possibly. Anybody ever ran into this. Thanks in advance

There are so many variables, if it's not advertising 2wd fitment then they probably have clearance issues.

Those are good headers, and I will probably buy a set for my 1975 K25.  However, I never realized that the specs don't show that they would fit a 2WD.

Most headers that fit a 4WD square body will also fit a 2WD, but maybe there is a problem with clearing something in the front suspension.

Thanks for the responses. From the searching i did. Sounds like they fit 4x4 due to drive shaft clearance and get close to the shifter linkage for auto trans. Dont really want any clearance issues with that. They are a nice set and would probably outlast me and my truck. Anyone have recomendations for headers. I have hedman headers right now there just getting old. I hear hooker makes a nice set. Thanks

Yeah ive passed on the 4x4 headers. Its too bad they were beautiful. Both hedman and hooker make 2wd specific headers. So I'll pick one of those two. Id like to stick with the hedman ones so i wont have to change my exhaust. But ive heard quality may not be as good as they were years ago when i bought them. So we'll see what goes on. Will keep you guys posted
