Does anyone have a video on how to install a gas selector valve for a 87 chevy pick up truck?

Getting to it from below is a pita.
I am thinking about changing my own out.  When I do I will pull the  SWB bed, change  the selector valve out and also change out all the 34 year old, pre- Ethanol era,  OEM rubber hoses going to my old rusty tanks.

It is 2 bolts, 1 electrical connector, and 6 hose connections.  You have to remove the heat shields first to get to it.  It isn't really that difficult to get to from under the truck.  Easier if you truck is lifted.

The selector valve is normally mounted under the cab, so removing bed and doing from top won't work.

1987 Squarebody selector valves were only installed on the cross-member under the bed.  GM never mounted them under the cab.

I keep forgetting in 87 they changed to TBI.

Yep, GM went to TBI in '87.  But yes, you are probably still correct, I believe the selector valve is actually under the cab.

My '83 truck has an ongoing issue with the fuel delivery system; tanks, selector and rubber fuel lines all very suspect.  Need to change 'em when I find the time and am willing to put up w/ the dust/dirt and fuel dripping down my arms and face.

1987 Squarebody selector valves were only installed on the cross-member under the bed.  GM never mounted them under the cab.

My TBI '87 GMC 4x4, short fleet side bed has it mounted under the cab in the same place as my '85. The hose clamps were different on the valve end and the other end of the hoses had a crimp on fitting to retain it. It required the same valve as the '85 also.

Loosening the cab mounting bolts and lifting the cab with a jack helped some of the hoses on and the clamps tightened.

The bolts are on top of the frame rail. Soak them with some penetrating oil and then break them loose with a box end wrench. Once they are free you can spin them out with an open end or stubby wrench. Remove the fuel line clamps in close proximity to give you flexibility and pay close attention not to mis match hoses. Take pictures or label accordingly for reference. Replace sections of hose and clamps while you are in there and make sure you don't kink any when you reinstall. It's a good idea to loosen the gas gaps during the procedure as well. Have a catch pan to collect the fuel loss. Wear proper PPE, no incandescent drop lights etc. See images in link below
