I changed out my transmission filter today and after I finished buttoning the whole thing up, I noticed that cylindrical spacer that goes between the filter and valve body sitting on the ground next to the old filter. Then I had set it on the bumper while I was cleaning up and it disappeared... doh.
I'm wondering what it's function is, and can I get away with leaving it out. I realize GM put it in there for reason. Just wondering if it's essential to normal operation. I'm not trying to lazy about it, it just sucks because I had to do that out in the cold and rain today and don't really want to do it again right now.
Thanks, guys.
