HELLO FROM BAMA
« on: March 21, 2018, 11:37:49 AM »
Long time listener, first time caller.  Been driving Chevys for past 30 years. Always worked on my own with help from brother and cousin whom are both dealer technicians. Never had a full size Chevy truck until now. I have been eyeballing this ‘86 stepside K10 for seven years and finally talked the owner into selling it to me. It’s a full option truck with cruise, power window and locks, as well as digital Delco 2700 ETR stereo and rear cargo lamp.

Of course over the years the previous owners have made some changes. Like swapping 305 for 350, 6” lift, 35s with 4.56:1 gears and the deletion of metal along with the addition of rust.  ::)

So, I have begun my nobel attempt to breath life back into her. I rebuilt 350 and 700r4 along with both front and rear ends. New hub to hub.  Pulled cab and bed off and cleaned up frame. Replaced cab with donor with doors. Cab had been gutted. So I am having to rewire ad replace all of the interior. Hopefully, I can get it back on the streets by summer.

It's a slow process.  I am still stringing wiring harnesses and trying to find time to put my new column in.  But in between bad weather I have been working on the little things in the garage like door panels, rebuilding tach cluster, and repairing the dash cover.
