Door Jam Switches

So, my door jam switches are dead. D E A D. Rusted to death.
Unfortunately, it seems that there are many options of door jam switches, and mine seem to be odd.
Single wire, and the post that the switch slides down into is short say 0.30" (while all the others I'm finding are tall post say .5").
It looks like the tall posts would be crushed when I shut the door.
Anyone know where to get the short posts?

when i replaced the switches on my truck the new ones looked to tall as well. my uncle told me that they self adjust when you close the door. the metal barrel part will slide into the nut part when you close the door on it.

yep. i had the same issue. i had one bad door jamb switch. bought the replacement (best $3 i ever spent, although now i gotta address the fact that these interior lights are WEAK) and when i put it in i was thinking there was no way the door would shut and not destroy this thing...so i shut the door carefully, and it worked great...i've had it in for about 2 months now and it works GREAT!

You gotta be kidding me! Gad, I've spent about $20 in petrol looking for these bloody short posts. Well, thanks for getting me in the loop!
