How many separate bushing kits are there?
« on: June 19, 2020, 10:45:27 AM »
I saw in another post, a guy was looking for new control arms, and VZ commented unless his were bent or rotted, why not just replace the bushings. Well, that's where i'm at, all my steering components are in great shape, not a lick of corrosion. Anyway, i'd like to replace as many bushings as possible. I saw on some sites they have bushing kits, several. How many different kits are there to do everything and what are they called? Any tip on where I should order them? Thanks, appreciate any feedback.

Buy the set that has what you need.  I am going to need rear leaf spring bushings for one of my projects.  I will be interested to see who posts what here

Me too! The rear is a lot simpler! Front end is a bit more complex.

I ordered the front suspension kit from PST. It has upper and lower control arm bushings and ball joints. Also stabilizer bar bushings. You need to provide the diameter of the sway bar. This kit also has new grease boots for the tie rod ends. My truck is a 1987 R10 . I will probably get there stuff for the rear as well, but I am considering leaf spring replacement and have not pulled the trigger on rear suspension parts yet.

I guess it would be nice to find a complete set, but I pieced it. Bought Energy bushing, separate components on the steering.

If you buy the E brand, they don't ship it with enough of their proprietary lube. Order a extra tub. Use generously. Sad results from using too little.

They are a challenge to install, because they want to push out of the sleeve due to their lube. You pretty much have to get the parts in place, then compress from the end nuts.

They came on good recommendation from others on this site, can't wait to see how they handle.

The lube is ghastly to work with, use gloves. The only solvent that I had that worked in cleaning up was 'wax and silicone remover'. Yuck!!!

As far as install goes, I've put them in the freezer before trying to press them onto shells.
