Your truck may be equipped with a choke relay instead of an oil pressure switch then. When the engine is running it supplies current to the choke heater through the relay. One of my old trucks was setup this way too. I don't see that depicted in the diagrams I have but I'm fairly certain mine was also an 84 equipped as such. I'll look around and see what I can find
Thank you very much.

You can see one in autozone with part # 19967 or RY144 Standard to reference what it looks like. The location is attached, see if it's there. I'll keep looking for the correct wiring diagram

Sorry, I do not have a diagram showing the choke relay wiring. Maybe someone else on here has one for your application depicting this setup. You can create your own choke circuit if necessary as well.

There we go. Thank you for your time. I will locate the relay and see if that is the problem. I will also do a search to see if anyone has done the choke bypass surgery

You can make a simple choke circuit off of an oil pressure switch.

i found this relay dangling above the fuse panel just above the buzzer attached to the fuse block. Is that diagram specific to my application? I could not find that exactly.

I did a search on autozone with the relay part number and it came back as a fast idle relay.

I would install an oil pressure switch if you cannot locate the pigtail in the harness just make a standalone circuit. These are AutoZone Part #'s

PS134 oil pressure switch
1053 pig tail

and diagram
