Hedman Headers for my '87

Alright guys, I'm putting dual exhaust with headers in my truck this weekend, and I'm not to happy with   Truck because I got an issue, and then they sent me another one with the exact same parts only almost all of them are jacked up $40, and parts that weren't oversize shipping before...well they are now.

So I looked in summit, and I found a set of Hedman's for $150. (The Summit Part # is HED-69090)

They're for a full size Chevy 4.3-6.5L and I have a 5.0L. Will these be a good reliable set of headers?

My truck is a 1987 R10 Custom Deluxe by the way.

Those should work for you. The listing shows them as "ball & socket" collector set-up, this seems to work well. If you don't have an air pump hooked up, the HED-69092 appear to be the same, but without the air tube inserts. Lorne

Yea, I'm a little confused about the listings. In the "notes" section for the 69090, it says: use the 69092 for without Air tubes & 69093 with Air tubes, so I'm not sure if the 69090 have them or not. May require a little more investigating. The Air pump is belt driven (about the size of an alternator) & has a hose going to each manifold right next to the head mounting area. If you need to retain this set-up for Emission purposes, you will need the headers with the fitting in each header tube to accept the Air tube. Lorne

Yeah, I wasn't for sure if what you meant was the smog injectors. I don't have to worry about any of that.

Unofficial, I'm not sure if you're totally commited to the long tube headers, but may i suggest the 68600 hedman's. They're a shorty header listed for chevelles and camaros, but they fit our trucks well, especially if you plan on lowering it as the LT headers will be lower than your tranny crossmember and hence the closest thing to the ground.  I run the 68610 on my BBC and I love them. They sit a little close to the passenger side frame rail, but I installed them without even removing the sparkplugs.

But anyway, my dad said they would work for my truck, and I already ordered them from summit last night along with two dual chamber Dynomax thrush mufflers. Hopefully I'll have my dual exhaust by next weekend

My hedmans fit fine except on the passenger side it was touching a brake line.  Nobody else seemed to have that problem though.

I just got them today. Did anybody have to remove their starter to get them on?

I spent Sunday putting the headers on, and my mufflers will come tomorrow when I get back from school. I had to fire it up to pull it out of the garage, and with open headers, that thing is LOUD! Scared the crap out of me

But tomorrow I'll go get the pipes bent, get the mufflers installed and I'll be set!
