better air flow question
« on: October 10, 2005, 08:38:00 PM »
Has anyone tried to attach the air intake tube up against the core support with out the circular black plastic mount? Would it add power because of the better air flow or would it screw up the engine.
The engine is a 85 305 thats has taken a beating from the last owner. It also has had the timing advanced, a single exhaust with a glass pack put on, and the carb has been cleaned and has had a kit put in it. All the fluids and plugs have been changed too.
    Thanks

I don't think it will improve any, atleast not enought to notice anything.  Throw a turbo charger on it, then you're putting air to it.  Really, you won't notice anything different.

Put a 350 in it, or better yet, a 383 stroker, then you will see a difference.

That is there to prevent small objects from getting inside and to deflect water.  It won't add any power to the motor.

something that simple won't do anything......305's are just gutless.

That's just a beater he's driving until we get done restoring the 1984 and 1983 K20's. Which is taking more time now that college and high school have resumed again.

Thanks for the replys, and I have to agree with RSBAD454 the stock 305 is pretty wimpy. Oh well at least it gets me where I need to go and like my brother said its just a beater truck until I get my other one complete.
