Gas Gauge issues
« on: October 19, 2012, 07:27:58 PM »
Okay guys- I've got one for ya

While driving, my gas gauge will go all the way across the gauge to empty in a matter of a second and a half. If I turn the steering wheel, it starts to come back up, yet falls again. It seems as if it is a power issue somewhere but I have no idea where to start. Is this a common problem? I am led to believe that it is a power problem because if it were ground, they gauge would almost constantly be at full.

I've got a 1978 K20, Dual tanks (gauge acts the same on either tank) and everything seems to work. Original dash, non tach dash.

please help!

Sounds like a grounding/wiring issue.  There is posts in the tech section to troubleshoot the fuel gauge.
