Top shock hole wallowed, go inboard?
«

I recently discovered the top shock bolt loose on my 84 3/4 ton suburban. I'll attach a picture of it. There's no cracks, but I'm wondering. I've been thinking of moving my shocks in board, but looking for suggestions on the wallowed hole. Should I just clean it up/paint it and leave it alone or is there any repairs I should do to the hole, what's the likelihood of it developing a crack without the shock beating on it?

I think I would plug the hole then redrill it to fit. Plug it with same thickness material, and weld in.

Could weld a thick washer on each side
Easier than plugging and drilling

Drill another hole to the right about 1" and get it back on the road!
Prime and paint the oblong hole.
There, fixed it.

Good ideas, from all of you guys. I'm gonna weigh my options, not in a real hurry as it's just sitting around right now after an engine swap and finishing up the fuel system. But I wanted to get some more eyes and opinions about it. Thanks

Weld thick washers then get the shock bolt reinforcement brackets or make them. Do an internet search.
