Hey all, I have a 78 c20 and Im dropping a new engine in it. Its a vortec 383 and I will be running the serpentine belt setup and 4 wire alternator. My current cluster has only idiot lights but I have an original with all gauges. Looking online I only need one wire to run the 4 wire alternator and my setup currently has 2, one signal wire and one to the charge indicator. Im wondering if I can reuse the charge indicator wiring to run the gauge or if I should leave that out and wire a new switched source to the gauge. Ive attached a diagram of what I'll be running at the alternator, everything else is stock GM. March 23, 2025, 02:19:37 pm by kgerrish1215@gmail.com | Views: 589 | Comments: 0
Pinned out my fuse box for 1985 Chevy K20. Took some time but worth it if it saves time and frustration under the dash. I verified all with multi-meter for each phase - Key On, Key Off and ACC and confirmed with wiring schematics. Hopefully saves someone time. March 21, 2025, 07:21:44 am by Swampyankee74
Views: 901 | Comments: 7 Hello everyone, I am looking for some stock looking rims either 15x9 or 15x10 4.25-4.5 backspacing with a 5x5 bolt patern that accepts the stock dogdish up caps. I can find 15x8 in that style. But would like to go wider to accept 295/50-15 tires. Any info would be helpful. March 11, 2025, 05:59:31 pm by Rough75C20
Views: 4281 | Comments: 5 Hello All, Looking to upgrade my C20 Fuel system. I currently have a 14-gallon tank on the passenger side that is being used as the main tank. However, the sending unit isn't hooked up to the gauge so I'm guessing on gas level right now. I am looking at getting a new 20-gallon tank from Jegs. Question is about the fuel sending unit. the truck currently has a 305 with a 4-barrel Quadrajet. I'm looking at the fuel sending units and I believe I need the one with two outlets (supply and vent). I haven't seen a return line to the current tank. Is this normal for these old carb setups? I have attached what is currently in my shopping cart from Jegs. Let me know your thoughts. I'm planning on using a T with a ball valve to control which tank is being used, but the sending unit will be hooked up to the main tank. Hello, I am restoring an 1987 Chevy R10. I am converting it to power windows and locks from donor doors. I have acquired an original door harness for each side. When I ran the harness through A Plr. and into the cab on the passengers side there was an existing 6 plug female block/connector above the glovebox that looked to be correct for the passengers side harness. Is this possible it is pre wired for these options? On the drivers side I could not find the same plug. (I have yet to verify the plug and power on the passengers side). I did remove a doner harness a while back but my issue is that the plugs on each end of the donor (cab) harness are not correct. Any help with locating the schematics as to how each side ties into the dash harness would be greatly appreciated. Pages: [1]
