Slow-n-low: did the bracket you bought come as a set or one a piece?
Chevalade: its a 2wd. im not to picky on if its a low back or high. i like both so i guess whatever one i can get for a reasonable price thats nice. probably just going with all black since that will go with whatever color i decide to paint the truck

Brackets are sold seperate, they were $94 ea with shipping and the seats i found for $29 ea at the junkyard

Sorry to bring this back from the dead, but which brackets did you buy Slow-N-Low? I've checked out Street beat's website and even talked to the people at Corbeau and they say the Corbeau brackets only work with Corbeau seats. What modifications did you have to make to use the Blazer seats with their brackets? I also have a set of buckets from an early 80's blazer that I'm trying to install in my 79 SWB but not having any luck with brackets.
-
man those aint cheap, I bet somebody has modified some stockers from a car or something to make em work? or from another truck? blazer? burb? I can get a great deal on some buckets but brackets would have to be made or fabbed up to work anyone done it?

This have been posted A LOT, you cannot put Blazer seats and mounts in a pickup. You need buckets out of a Suburban along with the front inner mounts that are welded to the floor.
-
Sorry to dig up an old thread, but what your saying is you can use Suburban buckets and welded floor brackets in a Regular cab pickup???
Thats pretty cool
-
yes the brackets that r welded to the floor of the subs will work. blazers have a diff brackets if i rember right blazers have flat floor.

I've been thinking of this lately and what is preventing a person from copying the same style of bracket that is only used at the inner front corner of the seat? A person could bend up a strip of heavy gauge sheet metal in to an A shape, bolt it to the floor and that would provide the mounting point for the front inner corner. Same idea as the Blazer/Suburbans, but bolted instead of welded. I think there's a link on here where someone did something like this (but welded it) and even provided a 1:1 scale template for other people to make their own. I've been thinking of doing this since my bucket setup isn't ideal right now. I have a post that sits between the seat and the floor and a 4" long grade 8 bolt that runs in between.
Another consideration is how the bolts are secured at the other attachment points. The factory welds on a block of steel that has been tapped and threaded for the seat bolt, on the underside of the cab floor so you can easily remove the bolts from up top. If you just drill a hole and put a washer and nut from the underside, it makes it much more difficult when you want to take the seats out. I know from experience......

It's probly a LOT easier just to fab up your own little brackets than try to "unweld" them from a suburban floor. You can probly just use some heat and bang out the right shape from some flatstock or something. Or take it to a body shop or something and have them install it. I'm sure they have to do crap like that from time to time.
