Ready to lay down some paint on the firewall prior to putting the rest together, have a question:
Is it just my truck or do other Square Bodies have jacked up firewalls?
I cant believe how uneven and even dented this thing is, with the tack welds that make a Yugo look good!
I guess I can do some skim coat cosmetic surgery, but wow!
That's after you have to remove the toxic black and grey composite compound ostensibly used to seal the seams...

Class B and C surfaces, you can't expect anything but paint on there. The only time I have ever tried to paint one it was a medium gloss texture black.

Textured paint is a good call Zeig, anything shiny will reveal the poor build.
Looks like cosmetic surgery is in my future.

When I was still in High School in the very early 1980's I did a car up top notch, should have qualified as a trailer queen. I was afraid to drive it and didn't want to take it anywhere I had to park it near anything. I vowed to never build anything that I wouldn't drive anywhere or park anywhere. Sure I still won't drive it in the winter junk but not afraid to use it as a truck either.

Great story Zeig, I'm an Olds fan too! Here's the second one I've owned. '66
Do you like the license plate? ;D

I rebuilt my firewall from scratch but it was a lot of work. If you want to take an easier route, they make filler panels. https://www.sloshtubz.net/store/Firewall-Filler-Panels-Slosh-Tubz-1973-87-p64908794

Thanks Vile! That sure makes for a custom look, will explore it.

Hey Johnny, I have a set of those filler panels. PM me if interested.
