Title: Bent Wheel Wobble
Post by: JohnnyPopper on March 13, 2024, 06:55:51 PM
My left rear has a wobble, makes for miserable driving. Steel Rally 6 lug.

There is a place locally who's website says they straighten them, but they can't seem to get their story straight so I've lost trust and am moving on.

Would like to keep the stock look, as tempting as new wheels are.

Here is the stamp near the air jack, it's 15" in diameter, does the '11' indicate the bead width?

Anyone have some they would like to sell? Or sources?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I believe it is an 15" x 8" wide wheel, original color Argent Silver. I bought a set a while back. You can find replacements if you look around, used and new.

Are you sure it's the wheel? A bad tire is much more common.

I've seen rally wheels for sale used on FB Marketplace all the time.

Swap the two rear tires and make sure.  Run it safely on jack stands to confirm.

This, and you can make a crude "gauge" from a wire hanger.

Thanks for the feedback guys!

Mike, it's gotta be wider than 8",  the tires are 10" wide, but you might be right. I thought the stamping might give a clue.

I did the off ground test on both rears, right tracked straight, left had a wobble. I'll try swapping.

Only thing I couldn't tell if it damage is on the outer wheel rim or at the hub.

I like the 'gauge' idea Shifty, will do that  at the rim and hub.

The width should be stamps on the back of the rim.  it will have 15x6, 15x7 or 15x8
