Title: Correct fuel pump?
Post by: Gagecampbell82 on January 02, 2017, 11:00:59 AM
I'm just wanting to make sure this is the correct fuel pump (says theinterchangeable part number is ep381 so I can swap this pump onto a '87 sending unit. Thanks.

I went  ahead and bought an ep381 from AutoZone today. I was going to get a acdelco but ended up with a delphi. The only reason is because the acdelco was ~$95 and the Delphi was ~$65  the acdelco had a 1 year warranty and the Delphi has a lifetime. And I know my luck with fuel pumps. Especially in the '82 non baffled tank.

And the store manager gave me a "courtesy discount" of 10% that I didn't realize until my gf mentioned it as we were leaving. I guess he realizes how much money I spend there. Anyway. If anyone wants to chime in on the above fuel pump or add any info about ls swap pumps for future reference go right ahead. I'd love to find out some details and hear everyone's experience with them. Thanks.

I got a little crossways with the local AZ folks about mechanical fuel pumps. I asked for one for a BB which is what I put in the 83. They looked up the part # . I bought one, took it home, installed it and the engine wouldn't start. No fuel. Took it back they gave me another one  same problem. Did some homework online on their website and looked up FP's for  305, 350 and 454. They showed the same part # for all three. Long story short a SB FP will bolt right up to a BB and the drive pin is the same length but the arm on the FP is longer on the BB pump than the SB pump. They adamantly maintained they were the same. I went to a Car Quest and got the right pump. Took it and the SB AZ pump back to AZ and showed then to the manager. "Notice any difference?"   "Well I'll be"   I told him they needed to get with their programmers in Bangladesh and get the problem fixed.    >:(

theres a "fix error" key on autozones computers. for when they have something improperly listed for the counter guy to flag it
