th400 swap questions
« on: May 15, 2012, 12:32:58 PM »
ok guys i got another question. i got a 84 chevy k10 with a th350/np203 converted. im swapping in a th400/208 into the truck. i know the th350/203 was not factory in this truck but it was in the truck when i bought it. now these are my questions.

1. the np203 in the truck has a slip yoke on the rear driveshaft. can i reuse this driveshaft and have a 32 spline yoke put on it for the np208?

2. instead of a cable i know the th400 has a solenoid. what is this switch that goes on the gas pedal called so i can buy one? is it called the trans kickdown solenoid switch (http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=45109)?

3. the np203 in the truck now has 2 square rubber mounts. i bought a mount through oreilly's part number 2638 because its like the mounts i have seen before. will this mount work for the th400?

any help is greatly appreciated and if i can get these questions answered then i can have my dd back up and running in a day. thanks alot guys!!!

There is a difference in length between the two trans and transfer case setups.  So your drive shaft will have to shortened. (depending on how long your tail shaft is on your th350, they came in different lengths).
From what I can remember, the 208 at my shop and the 203 in my truck looked like they have the same or close to the same rubber mount for the cross member.  But I have not yet did the switch so I am not positive.

Do you have the shifter and the crossmember for the 208? Your best bet is a donor. Is this a long or short bed?
