Okay so I got my 454 home and was wondering, since I have pulled the intake a verified that it has the peanut port heads on it, I was wondering if an oval port intake will work with those heads or does it have to have an intake for the peanut port heads? I plan to at some point get some better heads, but for the first year or two this thing is around... mostly while I finish school, it has to keep the peanuts.

I think it is the same but you probably wont get the perfomance your looking for with them heads.Look for a set of 781 or 049 oval port heads. Those i am told are good heads for a big block. And square ports are good for 1/4 mile and higher RPMS.IIRC
thanks

There isn't a specific aftermarket "peanut" port intake, so use the Oval. I ran mine that way for a couple years until I got better heads.

Cool. I Found One Peanut Port Aftermarket Intake In Jegs But I Would Prefer Not To Buy Two Intakes If I Can Use One For Both.

If you put the peanut port on a set of open chamber oval port heads the performance will still not be as good. Its like sucking a golf ball thru a garden hose(full metal jacket quote). Your better off staying with a stock intake for now or look on craigslist for a set of heads.I`m sure theres a set in your area for sale for like 300.00-500.00.

p.s. i know you already know this but remember big blocks ARE NOT CHEAP. I am piecemailing mine little by little before you know it you`ll have a engine that runs like a raped ape.
