'79 c30 trans question
« on: February 22, 2010, 09:16:08 AM »
Ive got a 79 c30 dually with a manual trans.  Its a 3 speed with a granny gear and was wondering if theres an od unit I can bolt on or an aux unit or something like that to give this rig some longer legs.

You could always do a NV4500 swap, or go with a built 700R4 automatic. If you search on here, you will find info on how to do this swap, I'm looking to do a similar swap myself, good luck.

I want to keep it a stick.  Is the nv a manual?

So a trans swap is the only option?  ALso is the trans I have considered a 3 speed or a 4 speed?

Yes the NV is a 5 speed syncronized overdrive manual. I've heard about add on overdrive, but I've never seen it. If anyone knows about this type of OD i'd like to know more about it.

The add on overdrive is EXPENSIVE, like more than the cost to convert to a NV4500..
