Title: Horn location for early 73-74 trucks
Post by: Jason S on April 17, 2018, 11:27:09 AM
Here's what is on my '73 GMC K2500 Camper Special.

I'm not sure if it is correct - dual Delco horn, mounted underhood on drivers side behind drivers headlamp.  It's been this way ever since I got the truck 20+ years ago.  The bracket doesn't look right for a factory mount.

It could've been relocated or have had something done early in life to facilitate aftermarket underhood camper related items that were removed later?

That looks just like the ones I have! Thank you very much for posting this. I will take pics of mine too for comparison when I get home tonight.

My horns were the same as yours specifically a 1974 GMC. 73-74 horn location doesn't appear to be in any of the factory service manuals so this post will make a good tech post for anyone else looking to mount their horns in the factory position. 1975 were moved to the front of the radiator support on both sides near the top. It would be good to take pics of each years locations for a complete tech reference page. If anyone wants to contribute pics for their year trucks we can make a tech page. Thanks for your help Jason S
