Cylinder getting Hot!!
« on: September 15, 2018, 10:08:24 PM »
I have a 78 C10 that I just had the engine rebuilt in. I have a 280 comp cam, Edelbrock intake, headers, MSD Ignition and distributor in a 454 big block.  I got the engine all back in truck and the number 7 cylinder is getting about 220 degrees. It’s starting to melt the paint before I turn it off.  What could be making this thing hot. It’s only hot on the driver side.

Running lean and not getting enough fuel as the other cylinders will make it run hot

You using a laser thermometer on the hear tube ?

I’d remove the valve covers and carefully check the push rod travel rocker arm travel

Make sure you haven’t wiped a cam lobe already or have a bent pushrod or broken rocker or pulled rocker stud
