84 SWB C10 build (Black Death)
« on: September 08, 2016, 06:30:31 PM »
Hi guys, I recently traded for this 84 C10 and thought I'd post a build thread on it. It's a pretty clean old pickup (for my budget and this area) and I'm pretty stoked about building it. So far, my neighbor Kelly and I have managed to install an old 383 and Built TH350 that was left over from my drag car days (daze). We've got it running, and it sounds good. All that's left is to put in the driveshaft, trans mount nut, tighten the trans crossmember, install a fan, and put on the shroud. I can't figure out how to post pics from an iPhone, so I'll just post videos instead.

This was literally the 4th time I turned the key. Please forgive the low idle, as I just had the transfer ports squared up and need to crack the secondaries to get the idle where I want it.

Thanks, we've about got the motor and trans install all buttoned up. I'm hoping to use it to haul some stuff to the Petit Jean swap meet in a couple of weeks.

Took it for the first drive this evening. Other than no 2-3 shift it does everything it's supposed to, and nothing it's not. The converter is looser than I though it would be in this truck, but in all fairness I haven't driven anything with this engine and trans in it since '08 and that was a straight up race car, so it was WFO or nothing in it. I may have to put a tighter converter in it for use as a daily.
