What Trans do I have?
« on: January 28, 2012, 04:05:06 PM »
Reverse is all way over and back. It has a real low first gear.  It is in a 83 c10 4x4. Someone told me it was out of a one ton truck said it had a plate on side where you can hook up a pto. Kind of new to older Chevy's. Me and my son are fixing it up for his 16th bday i will be posting pics. Or does anyone know i can look up what kind of trans this is. Thanks for the help.

SM465 is the number, welcome from NW Indiana.  The transmission is very durable, I have that one in my C20 and it works like new.

Welcome from California, Sm4654 were common in out trucks, I have one also in my 74 k10.  If yours is 4wd, the classification is K, just so you know, C is classified as 2wd.
Father/son builds are great, post some pics and keep us appraised of the progress your son and youself make.
