I'm looking to buy a cam. I'm running a 5.7 350 tbi in a 87 silverado. Does this sound like a good mild cam? Crane C274 HYDRAULIC CAM,1957-1987, INTAKE 390 AND EXHAUST 410,FITS ENGINES FROM A 262-400 C. I.; MAX LIFT AT INTAKE 108 AND AT EXHAUST IS 116, DURATION INTAKE 194* AND EXHAUST IS 202* The motor is stock besides headers w/ true duals.

That is basically a stock 929 cam - what every Goodwrench "Universal" 350 has. I don't think it would be worth the effort. Others will chime in on better recommendations.

So will it give any performance boost? Or will it be the exact same without it?
-
what's in it now? stock?

It's got headers and a k&n filter now. I have a intake and throttle body from holley but need a chip before I can put them on.

A 929 cam is larger than a stock TBI cam, but will not result in a significant increase in torque, IMO. If you are wanting to use stock springs and simply want to replace a wiped cam, that would be fine. But if you are wanting more power, a little "RV cam" would likely be a better choice - especially if you are planning on having a new chip burned.
VileZambonie, a well respected and experienced member of this board, has frequently recommended Summit Racing brand cams. So if I were replacing the cam in an otherwise stock TBI engine, this is what I'd look into: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-K1102/
Though I've done a ton of research on engine building (to the point of being obsessed), I have little first-hand experience building engines, so take that into consideration. That's why I was reluctant to just throw a cam recommendation at you before.

My recommendation is that you are keeping the TBI to keep it mild on the cam specs. TBI's are really finicky on cam selection and aren't really noted for making much high end horsepower anyhow. The cam specs that you provided would have good low end torque, fuel economy, more horsepower and keep the TBI happy.

Eventhorizon recommends a good cam.
Melling makes almost the exact same cam. You can order the melling for around $80.00 with lifters.
Go to tbichips.com and check out his good tbi mods page and the link for small block V8 trucks. He gives the cam specs you need.
