84 K20 is getting new intake, carb and distributor
« on: July 11, 2013, 06:37:05 PM »
This weekend my painfully bone stock K20
(former farm truck) is getting some
upgrades. I'll install the Performer intake,
Holley carb and Accell distributor that I
removed from my 85 Burban before I sold
it. While I'm removing factory equipment
the (what appears to be) the original heater
hoses and radiator hoses will be replaced
as well.
This will be the first of many engine mods
for the truck. Headers will go on when time/
money allow and remove the network of
AIR tubes under the hood. Luckily the truck
already has true duals with no cats, so
exhuast work will be minimal.
I'll post pics of the before, during and after.

things to think about when modding. the more air you let in the more you have to let out. get everything to be working on the same power band. ie dont have a intake made for lower rms and match it to a cam thats made for higher. but good luck and just plan ahead so you dont waist money for parts that you have to change later

Yep, when installing performance parts one should make sure the parts compliment each other, and when going for big power gains parts alone will is not enough. Head work will be required.

The water pump is leaking now. Which I'm fine with since it started leaking in the driveway, and not when I was in the middle of nowhere. And that pesky air pump is no longer attached to the engine

The air pump is for robbing the engine of power and emissions
