no i replaced the seal and was not aware that i needed to mark the nut. so i removed everything without marking a thing and now it is hitting the seal when i put everything back together. i am trying to get by for this winter and rebuild the rear axle next spring. the truck will not be drove much at all. i know i should take the axles and carrier out to properly set the pinion preload. but like i said i am trying to get by this winter.

So you overtightened the pinion nut?
