Hi, new guy, Bob in New Mexico. Have a '74 K20, Camper Special with a 14 bolt rear axle. I just did the brakes. Got it together, oil change, drove it about 50 miles. When I put it back together, I put a bit of grease on the bearings just to keep them happy until some gear lube got there. Took the axles out to swap out the spindle nuts (two-nut with lock washer to one-nut, key and clip) AND........ the left side drooled oil. The passenger side didn't, and my grease could still be seen on the bearings. I parked the truck on a bank, to see if oil would run down there, checked it again.... the same.
Any ideas? It looks to me like the diff oil should just run down there..... Something's not right, it doesn't look like there are any oil passages to get clogged, and I'm really confused.
