Mechanical Fuel Pump Converson
« on: March 23, 2018, 02:11:11 PM »
hello,
I recently converted from an electronic fuel pump to mechanical fuel pump the truck starts great when warm but in the morning I noticed it sounds like a loud pop "backfire" from the carb I have to try several times while holding the gas slightly.
It never did this with an electric fuel pump but, the electric fuel pump would stop working from time to time even a new one (probably electric issues doesn't matter why I converted). Also, I have noticed that in my inline fuel filter when I park it for the end of the day is like 3% fuel.... is this normal could this be why I'm experiencing hard starts when cold?

also, I have headers and the fuel pump is slightly hot.

the truck has been great for 6 months all this started upon changing the fuel pump (conversion)
