Does anyone know what correct carrier bearing and whether there is an appropriate rubber boot?

I'm in the process of replacing the carrier bearing and it looks to me like there should be some sort of boot to cover the open spline.

The u-joints are spicer 1350 series (1.188 OD x 3.63 end to end) and the carrier bearing is 1.574 at the bearing with a 1.500 dia spline.

Its a 1979 K30 with SM465 transmission and a 454 that was swapped in, also its got 4.56 gears.

I'm going through the dana / spicer catalog and theres a handful of these (carrier bearing) that come up under style 15 with 1.574 ID, 6.62 bolts to mount and 2.25 dim from bottom to bearing center... but they have different front slinger / rear slinger. If those are the pieces on the end, then I want to replace them if I can.

So finally getting some miles under this newly redone K10. I had to get a new wiper motor because the pump quit. I noticed that the wipers work fine on low/high but they dont work on intermittent. I assume that twisting the little knob is supposed to change the frequency of wipe? It doesnt seem to do anything. Is there a typical failure here?

I have been working on my 1979 Chevy K10. I have progressed to the point that I am ready to install the instrument cluster and dash. The ground wire that goes to the instrument cluster was missing when I got this truck back from the body shop, but I can easily make a new ground wire.

I have looked and looked and I can’t find anyplace on the instrument cluster to connect a ground wire. Can someone please tell me where the ground connection is on the back of the instrument cluster?

I don’t know if this makes any difference or not, but the body shop replaced the cab and I think it is from a 1977 C10. I don’t know which cab the instrument cluster is from, and I am not on speaking terms with that body shop.

Hello, I have a 87 R10  (rear axle flip) with a 12 bolt (5 lug) that I cannot verify it’s part number because it isn’t  located where it should be.  This leads me to believe it could have been a swap from another gm vehicle. All mounts are oe and the locations are centered (based on the C/L)  of the pinion.  When I compare the inside distance from the tire to the frame rail they differ by almost 7/16” It might seem minor but I have the widest wheel possible to tuck in there with the stock wheel well and it is almost hitting the bolts on the inside (drivers side).  Yes the bed is squared and centered on the frame rails.   

Any suggestions are always appreciated.

Hello,

Looking into headers for my 305. Any recommendations? Currently looking at headers from summit racing and jegs. I’ve read to stay with a little smaller diameter for clearance issues. Would like to buy a set that I don’t have to beat with a hammer too much to get to fit. Current setup is a 75 2wd c20 with a 305 out of an 86. Would like to stay under 500 dollars if possible. Would like to keep the temp sensor in the side of the block on the drivers side which I’ve read have had clearance issues in the past. Let me know your thoughts.
