Title: Gear in brake rotor
Post by: Smitty31 on July 26, 2018, 04:59:43 AM
I have a 1979 gmc high sierra 350, 350 turbo,4x4. I have automatic hubs the truck is 40 years old never had a promblem with them. And i want to keep the automatic hubs. I recently replaces the bearings but i believe i put the gear in the rotor backwards it goes in right after the spring then gear then snap ring and dust cover. 1 side of gear is flat the other has a raised circle in the middle of gear. I put this gear in with the raised part facing out. I think it should have went in first for the spring to ride on. I have checked several repair manuals and the internet with no luck. They all focus on manual locking hubs that are different.  Can someone please tell me how that gear goes in. As it will go either way.
