Strange block casting #

This motor is from an '93 GMC 1500 pickup.
It is a 5.7 TBI and has swirl part heads
Closest to a block casting # I could find is:  2233886
It is on the passenger side flange bell housing flange.
I cannot find anything close to that anywhere on the WWW.
Anybody seen that before?

Is the motor in the vehicle?  Never heard of that number sequence for a SBC

OK. Now that I own it and can actually SEE the number, it is 10243880
It came out of a 1993 1500 GMC truck, but from what I have read,some info says that engine is newer than that. 95 - 96
(Some says 87-00, so, who knows??)

I dunno,,, so much conflicting info.
There is what I believe to be a date code: A307.
That seems to indicate a 1997 casting date. (87 ??)
I am hoping for a 4 bolt roller cam block...but I may be dreaming??

It does have 191 or 193 swirl port heads and TBI.
I have read that that configuration did appear in some 1995 trucks.

Block also used in crate motors...

One interesting note: the mounting location for a mechanical fuel pump has a plate with 7 bolts holding it in place.
I HOPE thins means that it is machined for a mechanical FP.............

Of course, all will be revealed when I tear the critter apart.........

ed..Now that  I have access to the flat area ahead of the passenger side head, I find the s/n on a sticker: U621xxxx
What the heck does THAT mean??

The 350 I purchased had a serial # sticker   U621XXXX
Good old 409 washed the number off, so I removed the sticker.
There is no number stamped in the block...just shiny iron.

Do I correctly conclude that:
1. The short block/motor has been rebuilt by an engine rebuilder??
2. The block has been decked, which removed the original s/n ?

I would conclude that as well.  No reason to remove the numbers otherwise, unless it is stolen

It could also be a L31 Vortec, but the L31 would have 906 or 062 heads.
Based on it being in a 1993 it has been replaced.

You say is has 191 or 193 heads, which one, casting should be under the valve cover.  If they are 193 heads it is a 1995-97 Vortec.

Not exactly the same subject.
One dealt with the block casting #, which I finally got to see was 10243380.
An 880 block, 1 piece rear main, roller cam ready, 2 bolt main bearings.

The other dealt with the engine serial #, or lack thereof, from the front of the block ahead of the passenger side head.
Had there been one stamped there, it would have narrowed down the original vehicle into which it had been installed.
